One-on-One Guidance Services
Today's college-bound high school student has a lot to worry about: grades, test scores and, of course, the social scene. The economic realities of the past few years aren't helping things either. Admission rates at the nation's colleges are at all time lows as more and more students realize the necessity of higher education in the 21st Century economy.
Even the best students need an edge in the admissions process. Some students perform well academically, but have trouble with standardized tests. While others may find the traditional academic environment fails to address their innate learning styles. Regardless of the individual's situation, Complete College Solutions has the tools to help your child increase their test scores, develop better study and test-taking habits and explore career paths that suit their interests and abilities.
According to a report in The Washington Post, the nation's top schools are rejecting applicants at rates we've never seen before. Harvard College received more than 30,000 applications for the Class of 2014. Of those applicants, only 6.9% received that precious "fat" envelope. Johns Hopkins University admitted only 20.4% of its applicants - down from 26.7% a year before - another record low.
These pressures couldn't come at a worse time. High school enrollments continue to climb while most school districts are looking for ways to control (or trim) their budgets. Guidance counselors, the people many parents rely on to help their children make the transition to higher education are facing increasing workloads with little to no relief. This means less time spent with high achievers and those in need of extra help. Although we know that these professionals are doing all they can to help our students, the fact of the matter is that more and more students are slipping through the cracks.
As parents, we want to do all we can to help our students succeed. However, the educational environment has changed dramatically in the past ten years - to say nothing about the changes since we graduated from college. And, despite the best efforts of parents to learn all they can about the college process, the complexities of the modern admissions process are daunting. Situations like these call for expert help. Complete College Solutions makes that help accessible - and affordable - for any family.
